About this Artwork: I was in awe at the spectacle of dozens of hot air balloons ascending from an Albuquerque field. It’s about movement and stillness at once, and the riot of colors against New Mexico’s pale blue sky. My painting hopes to freeze this living spectacle, capturing the joy, color, and freedom and letting you hold onto this sense of awe long after the balloons have drifted away.

About the Artist: I used to admire paintings from a distance until the Covid lockdown allowed me to discover instructional art tutorials on line.  After 3 years of practice, I am now growing and expanding my skill through local art classes. Retired, I have time to enjoy my new passion. I work in acrylic getting my ideas from travels, nature, & family. Painting connects me with my mother - an artist who passed away much too young. I try to create works that have meaning to me hoping I can touch the viewer as well.
